Jicin is the perfect place to stay in while exploring Czech Paradise (Cesky Raj). It is a small historic town with its own chateau situated on its main square (central photo above).

Some sights of interest in Jicin

  • Jicin Chateau - housing the town museum, which includes a museum of play
  • easy access by bus and train to the delights of Czech Paradise.
  • a well-preserved historical centre, built around a rectangular square with a regular Gothic street layout, and arcaded Renaissance and Baroque houses
  • well-marked footpaths and cycle routes in to Czech Paradise - bikes can be hired in the town
  • the Jicin with Turnov train route - one of the most popular railway journeys in the Czech Republic as it offers splendid views and takes you close to the starting points of some of the best walks. You can also take your bike with you on the train.

The surrounding area

  • the rock towns: explore the labyrinths of narrow ravines at the foot of sandstone towers, which can rise up to 90 metres, and climb stairs carved in to the stone to stand on the viewpoints above. The closest and most famous are Prachovske Skaly rocks (photo right above)
  • the area’s many castles - such as Kost castle, Humprecht castle (left photo) and ruined Trosky
  • folk architecture - villages with log-built farms facing onto a village green or pond, as at nearby Vesec u Sobotky
  • the Museum of Bohemian Paradise in Turnov - which includes not just local archaeology and folk history, but also the precious stones that are found in the area.
  • diverse nature: the wide range of landscapes and geology in the area results in a wide range of flowers and wildlife.
  • you can also use Jicin as a base to explore the Giant Mountains

Accommodation in Jicin

We offer accommodation in a three star hotel in the the town. The building is in a newly restored historic building. It has 12 modern double rooms and 4 suites, all with shower, toilet, SAT, minibar, telephone and  wireless connection. The hotel has a self-lockable parking, but no  wheelchair entrance. Getting to Jicin

If you want to hire a car please use the car-rental search engine on our travel page to get the best deal.. If you want to use public transport the quickest link to Jicin from Prague is by direct coach (1 hr 20 mins). Trains require a change (journey time 2hrs 30 mins). Some trains carry bikes.
