The Czech Republic is full of lovely historic towns and cities and we have chosen some of the best to offer to you (see links on the left or below). - Cesky Krumlov - this UNESCO World Heritage Site with 300 listed buildings offers the perfect break. The town offers a series of cultural festivals, the most famous being The Festival of the Five-petal Rose.
- Ceske Budejovice - fascinating city, an excellent base for exploring historic South Bohemia and great shops and restaurants to boot
- Tabor - the medieval city built by the Hussites, filled with historic buildings and home of the medieval festival - the Tabor Meeting.
- Brno - the capital city of Moravia and second largest city in the Czech Republic offers history, gastronomy, culture, motor sport and shopping. The city is served by an airport with direct flights from the UK
- Litomysl - the UNESCO-listed renaissance chateau is just one attraction in this town famous for its Smetana Music Festival. Litomysl is also a good base for exploring the Vysocina Highlands.
- Trebic - home to one of Europe’s best preserved Jewish ghetto (UNESCO listed), a good base for exploring South Moravia/Vysocina.
- Jicin - a lovely small town which offers a superb base for exploring the Czech Paradise
- Jindrichuv Hradec - with its large Gothic castle, the National Museum of Photography, narrow-guage railway, this lovely town is a good base for exploring Czech Canada
- Kutna Hora - explore the spectacular St Barbara Cathedral, the Sedlac Ossuary, and the medieval silver mines
- Znojmo - at the heart of the Moravian wine-growing industry, this hilltop town combines lots of history (including an incredible 12th century circular church) with gastronomy.
- Trebon - the medieval town is the best base for exploring the lakes by foot, car or bike. The town is famous for its fish restaurants and peat spa treatments.
- Karlovy Vary & Marienske Lazne - the two elegant spa towns (formerly Carlsbad and Marienbad) still offer spa treatments, but also are famous for arts festivals. Both can act as a base for hiking in the nearby mountains
